Medion have announced the latest in their range of SatNav systems: the Medion GoPal S2310. This is a Centrality based PND with a 2.8 inch touch screen device with 2GB of integrated memory for holding the application and mapping. The map provider is Navteq and the unit is supplied with the entire Western European maps.
Like most other devices today it comes with an MP3 player, and has a mini-SD card reader for installing additional mapping and music.
Available as accessories are a motorbike mount, and interestingly an arm band for cycling, running and any other activity outside the car.
With a price tag of £199.00 this fits nicely in the middle price range of SatNav systems.

Tracked routes can be downloaded to Google™ Earth
Features include an MP3 player, photo viewer and integrated Bluetooth technology
Medion, a leading consumer electronics vendor, today announces the GoPal S2310 - a mobile navigation device for users in a car, on a bike or on foot. It combines the convenience of a satellite navigation system, including the latest preinstalled Western European Navteq map material, over 60 points of interest and an integrated GPS receiver for satellite-based positioning, with a lifestyle entertainment system providing an MP3 player, photo viewer and Bluetooth technology. The GPS tracking feature enables users to download tracked routes into Google™ Earth.
Stylishly designed to complement an active lifestyle, the GoPal S2310 houses a 2.8” colour TFT touch screen in a sturdy, splash-proof, matt black frame with an integrated touch pad for MP3 player functions. The highly portable form and included Sennheiser headphones make the GoPal S2310 an ideal accessory for walkers, runners and cyclists as well as motorists. At the touch of a button, users can track and store a specific section of their route as often as they wish, even over extended periods of time. When transferred to Google Earth, these separate files are joined and highlighted in different colours to show a complete route.
On the move, conventional directions are provided by arrow, 2D or 3D view on the screen, which can be configured in portrait or landscape layout. The display also features a compass as well as time of arrival and distance remaining to destination or next manoeuvre. Visual prompts are backed up by detailed voice output using text-to-speech technology. Spoken navigation instructions intervene seamlessly during playback from the MP3 player and users can also make and receive hands-free calls via Bluetooth when paired with a supported mobile phone or headset – the new GoPal website provides a list at www.mediongopal.co.uk.
Availability
The GoPal S2310 will be available in May 2007 to buy online from www.medionshop.co.uk or from selected UK retailers.
