Has anyone a fix for the very slow start-up of my Garmin i3

My i3 worked fine until I upgraded from firmware version 2.7 to 3.2. It can now take up to an hour to aquire satelites!
I contacted Garmin and followed their instructions to reset the i3 and let it get a first fix etc. but once I powered the unit down and switched it back on it still hadn't found a satelite after an hour. Garmin wants me to return the unit for repair (£71) but given that it worked fine up to the upgrade and given that my son's unit is just the same (we upgraded at the same time), I'm sure that the unit isn't faulty.
Also, several posts on this forum seem to have similar problems. Some people seem to have solved the problem by reverting to v2.7.
Can anyone tell me how to do this or suggest any other way of getting round the problem.

To revert to 2.7 download the firmware from http://www.gpsinformation.org/perry/streetpilot/sp_ix/ plug your i3 into your PC, double click the firmware and follow instructions.

Thanks Paul. I did that but the updater reports, understandably, that the version installed does not need updating and doesn't give the option to 'update' anyway. Do I need to delete v3.2 first and if so, how ?
