I am using map source city map and I am trying to get a route from my home to a hotel in france the map finds the points ok but when it routes it goes thru the channel tunnel and I really want dover calais by ferry. I have used the map avoidance feature but it still is routing thru the tunnel any ideas ?

Put a via at Dover and Calais or mid Channel on the Dover/Calais route.

I now tend to break such journeys up into sections anyway with a route to the departure port and then another route onward from the disembarkation port. You have plenty of time to select the new route before coming off the ferry and once out of the hull your GPS will pick up a signal and off you go. If the ferry journey is a long one (say Portsmouth - Bilbao) then satellite acquisition might be speeded up by manually changing your position to the disembarkation port or going up on deck before arrival and getting a signal from there.
