I have a 930 t and have installed the europe and uk databases, speed zoned complete, have the warnings set up with the tom tom voice and have copied the ogg files to the map file where the cameras are installed but cannot see the voices when i try to choose sound effect. Am I installing it in the wrong place?
Regards

Nope, you're not installing them in the wrong place, but not following the instructions!
Adding custom audio alerts like this was an "undocumented feature" and TomTom never sorted out the rather confusing way it worked.
The instructions say:
If you have installed the .ogg file packs you will be asked to choose a sound but will not be offered any options, this is normal. You will be asked 'Is this the sound you want?'. You should answer Yes on this screen. If you do, you will then see the warning distance screen and can proceed as normal.
In other words the ogg fles DO NOT appear on the list... So long as you are asked if it is the right sound, just say "yes" and it will all work out right.
======================
For info:
Since those instructions were written, TomTom have actually produced a better way of doing it in v7 and v8 software, where you put the ogg files into the "sounds" folder rather than the map folder.
Doing it that way they DO show up on the effects list and can be selected as normal. Unfortunately, the way that PGPSW name their camera files you only get to see the "PocketGPSWor..." part of all the names so it makes it a bit hard to select the right one for each camera type (although you can now audition them before you pick one).
If that annoys you, just edit the names of the sound files to put the useful bit of the name at the front, as they don't need to exactly match the names of the ov2 files in this method. |

Done that and it gives me a number of sounds to choose from, 23 with record warning.
You have to select one of their voices/sounds.

I have done the following
Warn when near, selected gatso, choose distance, then select sound effect. When I do this i het the 23 sounds and the record warning option. No chance to choose the ogg files in the map folder.
I am running version 8.
Cheers

Try my second method then.
That works fine, the way you would expect it to. |

Andy
What is the second way? How when I select sound effect do I get around having to choose one of the sounds on the Tom Tom. Should I delete these sounds?

What I mentioned above:

Does that now mean that you can't get the gatso 40 etc voices.
Got the choices though, thanks very much.

Yes you can get the Gatso 40 etc. voices. I thought these were the ones you were talking about! Which voices have you installed then?
With the "speed-zoned" version of the database and one of the speed-zoned voice sets from HERE You can have all the cameras announced by type and speed.
The only restriction is that some of the older sets were created when things like the "pMobile" categories (for un-verified mobile sites) didn't exist, so there might not be voices for those.
I use the "Simon" set with a chime at the front, and that does every speed and type (but then I would 'cos I made it ) |

Have used the computer voice at the top with the chime. Will use the Simon one now.
Thanks for all your help.

Going throught the contents of the map folder, having since downloaded the speed-zoned camera poi set and the speed-zoned voices, can I delete the following files?
Safety_Cam_UK_[speed here]_TomTomOv2.ver
Safety_Cam_[speed here]_Other_TomTom.Ov2
Safety_Cam_[speed here]_TomTom.bmp
I assume these are the files TT used before I downloaded the sets above?
Any help appreciated

I'm assuming that you've installed the PGPSW cameras, warnings, icons etc thus making the TomTom ones obsolete.
The TomTom cameras may be deleted, but some people like to keep both and compare them. However, it sounds like you don't wish to use TT files, so these can be deleted.
The PGPSW files are easy to identify because the filenames all begin pocketgps_... _________________ Andy
