Hi
Can anyone help me with my problem,
My son bought a Garmin i2 when he was on holiday in america
thinking it was the same as mine (I have a Garmin StreetPilot
i3).
As it opens up it displays streetpilot i2 then "Americas Lite
Basemap 4.00 And Data Ireland 2005", and then opens to the next
screen "Please use the provide PC software to load maps
containing turn-by-turn route information."next sreen displays
the usual warning, then it will open to whereto? view map or
settings
in view map it brings up all american cities only
in settings, map, then mapsource,it only brings up a line
Mapsource Info. but nothing else unlike mine which says city
navigator europe NT+V8.
I have got on cd City SelectEurope v6 and have followed the
instructions and can bring up the map and then highlite the uk
and ireland section of the map then click on send to device
which then shows find device and the i2 is listed and it then
downloads it to the sat nav and says maps loaded.
When I then go back to try it is still doing the same as before.
Can anyone see where I am going wrong

you will need to use 'city navigator nt' maps on it. latest version can be bought from garmin for about £45 but it may be better to buy a new transflash card so you don't overwrite the original files - if you go to america again you might need them ;)

City Select Europe is a locked software meaning that you need an unlock code to download the maps to a given GPS reciever .
Generally CS or CN is sold with 2 unlock codes for 2 different GPS serial numbers.
If you have already unlocked it twice, then you can't download any more maps to other units. If not already unlocked, then you should find a yellow paper in the City Select CD box with a code that will allow you to unlock it. See the FAQ on the Garmin website
