Nuvi 660 GTM software updated to version 4.00!!!!!

Webupdated the software which lists the fix for UK as

Fixed Service provider lock.

Too good to be true!!.

Loaded via webupdater the v4.0 GTM software.
Restarted the nuvi, the about screen still shows v3.9.

Placed the nuvi in the car mount which is connected to the GTM21,
no update still showing v3.9. Doh!

Called Garmin, given a link to a web page on the garmin site.

This tells you to use webupdater.

Tried webupdater again, gtm software update now missing.

Removed a small 32kb .bin file from the garmin directory.
This was the only file changed during the original webupdate.

Webupdated again, link had re-appeared, which was then downloaded.

No change same old problem .

Is there a way of forcing a firmware update as in the bluetooth firmware?

May be I am missing something any ideas or has anybody else completed the update without issue?

Philgarmin,

can you post the link here that you were sent by Garmin for the update, maybe one of the people here can work out what is wrong.

Hmmm....

Perhaps someone is trying to play game - still no update.

Would such a fix warrant a major release? (V3.xx to 4.xx)

I think we are being lied to by Garmin, they are not really working on a fix at all!

There was an extra . in the url should be:

I can't see the update when I run webupdater though.

There is a 32kb .bin file in the Garmin directory, if you remove this and copy it somewhere safe, then restart the unit.

This file was the only file originally updated when I first noticed the update.

Try the webupdater and you should see the GTM update listed.

Still does not recognise the update though.

It's possible Garmin realised that there was a problem with the v4.00 update - maybe they forgot to update the internal version number or something, which makes the upgrade not work, and hence have temporarily removed the download until they fix it. I would expect it to be released again next week.

Which is good, as I've now hit the bug 100% on my traffic unit.
