The Mitac Mio Navigation system has a much advanced camera detection system, i.e It will show you if there is a Police Patrol Vehicle within a set distance limit and whether it has an onboard SPEED camera detector. It also covers Mobile Camera Units, UNMARKED Patrol car with camera etc.

Do any of you know if any such system is available for any TomTom Systems???????????????

It is built in to the TomTom product, all you need is the speed camera database from this site, install it and configure your warnings - there is a set-up guide Here which covers the Go-910 device, but the same approach covers all the TomTom software - Mike

None of the satnavs including the Mio can show this information. All that they know is locations where such vehicles have been observed in the past, and added to the database. There is no GPS based satnav system in existence that can tell you the location of unmarked patrol cars, unless you are sitting in the control room watching their tracking information.

It is possible to buy detectors that will pick up the radiation from radar and laser speed devices, but VASCAR does not emit, and cannot be located. (Truvelo and Specs also don't emit, but these are fixed locations and generally available on the camera databases.)

Does it also 'detect' next week's winning Lottery numbers? A moment's consideration ought to tell you that most of what's quoted is simply not possible. All a TomTom device 'knows' is: a) where it is b) where a previously notified POI is. As such, it does not 'detect' anything other than positional data. Sorry.
