I am using the excellent Camera Manager utility to load the Pocket GPS database onto my Navigator 3. That bit works fine. I would love to have voice warnings, and have downloaded the Camera Manager Voice warnings. Having placed these in my POI folder, I get the "missing sox.exe" warning. I then download that file and place it in the folder where POILoader sits, but can't get further. Is that because the Navigator 3 unit doesn't handle wav files? I notice that the non TTS voices for this unit are "rgn" files. Am I stuffed or being stupid (or both!)? |

I got the (missing sox.exe) warning uploading POI's to the nuvi 769 I converted the files to mp3 all fine now. But then I didn't like the voices so I downloaded the Code: | http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/speed-camera-alerts-garmin-andy.php | voice files and just renamed them. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 3790T Firmware 4.30

I have a Nuvi 255WT and want to replace the overspeed bong with something that says to slow down. I have gone through all 14 pages and am now confused. Can the 255 do this (it appears that the bong may be in the firmware) and, if so, which bong do I replace?
Many thanks

Ahoy!
I've downloaded the Garmin Voice Utility. I've located the .vpm file OK with it, but even with a folder full of .wav files, the software will not 'see' them!
Any ideas? _________________ Pirate! |

You might need to explain in more detail what you have done and what you are trying to do. |

Ahoy!
I'm trying to split a Garmin .vpm file into it's component parts in order to replace certain warning sound files with something more appropriate in .wav format for my 205W. I've taken .mp3 files and converted them to .wav in readiness.
The Garmin Voice Utility that was posted has been downloaded and executed, but although it's finding the .vpm file, it can't 'see' or locate any .wav files, hence I'm asking for guidance as to why this would be and if there's a workaround.
I'm formally a TTN user and have just bought into the Garmin system and it's just not as easily customisable as the TTN. Seems there is a lot of improvements that could be made in terms of options and customisation, but it works well. _________________ Pirate! |

Sorry to be really pedantic on this but what exactly do you mean by
Quote: | it can't 'see' or locate any .wav files |
What steps are you taking and where is it going wrong?
Error Message?
What's not happening that you expect to happen?
As i said, sorry to be pedantic but only you know what you're experiencing and i can't work out what wrong from "it can't 'see' or locate any .wav files"
Did you click on the browse button at the bottom right of the program to tell it where the wav files are? |

OK, I run the Garmin Voice Utility v1.2 software and locate the Garmin Voice File in the top file locator box. The lower Sound Samples box want's to locate the .wav file location. It's this box that isn't 'seeing' the files in the location where they are (the box remains blank even though the .wav files are there - I'm directing the software to the location), thus the software isn't 'seeing' the files. I don't know why this is hence my request. _________________ Pirate! |

Thanks.
From playing with VM for 5 minutes i can see how this program works.
Can i check the following:
1) You locate the VPM file in the upper window and then specify a filename in the lower window. Then click SPLIT. This results in loads of wav files appearing with names such as filename000.wav, filename001.wav etc
2) You replace the wav file you wish to change with a new wav file.
3) In the lower window make sure the it lists the name of the first file in the set and click JOIN to get the new VPM file.
Your saying when you click the Browse (...) button at the bottom of the screen it won't find any wav files?
Did you change the name of the first file in the set? Note from the instructions
Quote: | Note that the first sample (numbered as _000) is special and should not be altered! |
The only way i can replicate your prob;em from the description is to rename the first file from Test_000.wav to something.wav then no files appear. If i rename it to anything with _000.wav on the end it works fine. |

I haven't changed anything. The software finds the VPK file, but cannot see any wav files in the folder when directed, hence I can't run the software in order to make any changes. When I open my .wav file folder with the software, it's showing the content as totally blank! Thus it all ends before it's started. I can't get the software to see ANY .wav files, even when I direct it to the Windows/Media folder which is full of the things . . . blank! _________________ Pirate! |
