When I received my TT1 V2 Europe, I'm sure it worked out of the box - the battery must have had charge in it, despite it being some time since it the TT was manufactured, no doubt.
So what's the proceedure (is there one?) to reproduce this "mode", where there is little self discharge/drain with the unit off?
1 Remove the SD card?
2 Remove the SD card and turn the unit on then off?
3 Remove the SD card and hard reset the TT?
4 Do the above standing on one leg ;-)
5 ?
Anyone tested this already? I guess 4 is most likely, but may be unneccessary... |

Can't be done. It's shipped virtually fully charged and until you plug the SD card in, nothing is drawing current.
Once the SD card has been inserted, the internal clock & flash memory will be running hence the discharge over 3-5 days even switched off. |

You'd think 3 should accomplish the same thing IF it were a proper hard reset...
Flash shouldn't be powered when the unit is off anyway. But certainly RAM and clock are likely to be to retain state.
The constant and arguably unneccessary cycling of the battery is only going to serve to reduce its service life, and accellerate the time when we're all working out how to replace the internal battery :-( |

I wouldn't worry too much. I've had a random problem on my 700 with a flat battery after switching off overnight, but that may be that I've turned it on again when putting it in the case...
However, I didn't use the GO over Christmas and the holidays and there was plenty of charge in the battery after sitting on the shelf for nearly 3 weeks. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

I thought that even after a hard reset when you then reinsert the SD card it remembered the time but I've just checked and you're right!!! |

So a simple "poke in it's reset hole" when I don't expect to be using it a while should save the battery self discharging quickly? |

yes, but if you going to store the unit, then make sure that the battery is 40-50% charged (not discharged or fully charged!) http://www.satnav-shop.com/index.php?ln=en&pg=6&sec=6 |
