I have downloaded and successfully installed your speed camera software on my tomtom300.
I have just downloaded the bells alert changer, no probs.

Instead of getting the gatso icon on my screen I am getting a [full] red box. I notice the gatso image is a jpg, not a bmp. Should I change it to a .bmp in adobe?

Could I ask you where did you download this database from? - Mike

I'm struggling with the bells alert changer as well, I cannot get your new sounds alerts to work. I have followed the instructions, removed and replaced SD card to reset etc but I still get the old bells. I have downloaded, saved directly to SD card, renamed it....

I live 250 yards from a speed camera, so as soon as I switch tomtom on it lights up like a xmas tree with this red box in the corner.

The 'red box' is an indication that the 300 can't see a matching BMP File.

Make sure you have copied the BMP File as well as the OV2, and that it has the exact same name.

Which new 'Sounds Alert' are you trying to use? The data.chk, or the ogg File, method?

I have transferred the .bmp file with the exact same name now. I extracted the zip files again and it appeared, winzip must have missed it first time or I clicked wrong file(??)

The sound files, I went to this page:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-poi-alerts.php

I went to the download version table, in the column Go/Rider/One I scrolled down and found my version number, which is the bottom one, 6.520. I clicked 7690 and downloaded that. I saved to SD on tomtom and renamed it data.chk after removing the original data.chk

It could be your data.chk file is named data.chk.chk this has happened before! in windows explorer make sure the hide extensions for known file types is NOT selected, tools/ options. I would also take a look at the ogg file method as its easier to implement, there is a nk from the sites home page - Mike

Many thanks for your help, everything is now working fine.

I used it for the first time last night. It's a strange piece of software, gatsos in my locality (Greater Manchester) which have been there for years are not on. Then the other extreme, it alerts me to gatsos where there aren't any and never have been!!
It alerts me to a camera 2 miles from my house, there isn't one there, never has been, not even a mobile camera.

Going round the M60 last night (anticlockwise), this thing was bleeping away saying 2 gatsos between Ashton Under Lyne and Oldham, no gatsos there.

When I get the hang of the unit I will download the software to place the cameras on, then I will update and submit it.

It sounds like you may have used the single file "all-in-one" version. This will not differentiate between types of camera site, so you will get lots of alerts for mobile sites (which may only have a camera positioned there once in 6 months), but you won't know that.
I suggest that now you have got the hang of the downloading and installing process, you start again with the complete set of 24 "speed-zoned" files, then you will be tiold what type of camera site it is. (Don't forget to remove the original single file though, or you will get two alerts every time).
