I am a newbie to the forums, but have spent the last couple of hours searching for a solution to this problem, but cant find one, please frgive me if it has come up before!

I have a dell axim x5 (400, 64) running 2003.

I use TomTom all the time, but only have version 1.4.1.

I have been trying to get checkpoint to work, or anything infact, to be able to view speedcams on the mapping system.

I have followed all the instructions, tried different versions.

I have POIedit on my desktop, it shows the POI files I have downloaded, although only with Dutch maps!

I do not seem to be able to get Tom Tom to show the POIs in the file-properties-POI dialogue box.

And when I access the dialogues, the dell seems to get into a loop, I cant shut the dialogue, remove the onscreen keyboard, or anything else and a soft reset is required.

I can access the start menu, if I start TomTom or Checkpoint and go into the menus when I try to access anything on it, I get booted back to the dialogue - again a soft reset sorts it out.

I have tried to copy the ov2 files directly into the map directory, but dont seem to be able to find directories as described in these forums.

Any help gratefully received.

Dave

Dave,

Before upgrading to TTN 2 I was using TTN 1.5x which worked well. If you cannot see the newly loaded POI in TTN then make sure that TTN is not still in memory. TTN only scans for POI when it is started. I use Exit in the File menu to close TTN down, but a soft reset will also stop TTN and all other programs.

The overlay file and icon bitmap file must be placed in the folder that contains the map that you are using with TTN. Which map are you using?

The latest version of TomTom Navigator 1 is, I believe, 1.53. However, I can't find the file on the TomTom web site - maybe someone can let you have a copy.

Your crashing could be to do with trying to use Navigator 1 on Pocket PC 2003 - there's no official support for Pocket PC 2003 in Navigator 1. Further, the upgrade offer from Navigator 1 to Navigator 2 has long since closed.

It's certainly worth trying to get hold of 1.53, also upgrading the GPS driver to 2.07 or later. I can't guarantee it's going to work, though.

Thanks to both of you, I have tried soft reset, and then starting POI first, copying the files across etc. but all to no avail, I am beginning to think daves response may have some bearing on it, I was using the Tom Tom on the earlier version of Pocket PC, when I upgraded to 2003, I did not check the compatability, so it looks like I will make do, until a new version comes out, and then upgrade the navigator.

However any other ideas gratefully received.

Thanks

Dave
