Using CP6 for some time now and have always updated the safety camera database in the same way ie delete the ao* and then copy the new files over. However the last couple of times I've updated I don't get the icons anymore - I still get a warning box, and the lady tells me of the approaching camera and I even get the chime but the icon has gone - anyone else experiencing this problem?
Cheers
Phil

This has been mentioned before, it is to do with the revised icons using 24 bit BMP's unfortunatly your software will only cope with 8 bit BMP files IIRC.
You could use Paint shop or similar to alter the colour depth, or if you still have the old icons on the PC, make sure the names corespond to the POI file and load them. - Mike

Hi Mike,
Don't think so, just checked them all and they are 4 bit. I see the odd camera but the icon is the general three coloured dots or on occasions I've seen two cameras with different numbers at the same location. Strange that is has just started to happen and nothing has changed except the database. Maybe I'll try zapping the memory card and starting again and see what that does.
Cheers

The three coloured dots is what it shows when multiple icons exists at the similar locations. I think that you can switch that option off.

It sounds like you have multiple sets of cameras on display. Are you sure that you deleted the ao*.* files?

OK - I reformatted the memory card and did a fresh data download and things look a little better. I won't say that everything is fine as there still seems to be a few missing but certainly better than it was.

Has anyone else noticed that ALK seems to have gone quite on problems with CP6, perhaps they're getting ready to release the next bug fix as CP7, must be getting close to that time of year.

My camera icons have dissappeared in exactly the same fashion, being lazy have followed this thread hoping for a cure rather than investigating it myself Laughing

Noticed that too on ALK, an update soon with latest Navteq mapping would be good, moving to Ireland early next year.

Well, they've gone again, coming home this evening I was getting the yellow box and the lady was informing me of the proximity of the camera and I was even getting the ding dong but no icon..........

Starting to get a bit fed up with this -- is Tom Tom 6 any better?

No, it doesn't seem to matter what speed I'm doing, be it motorway or town. Strangely it has only just started to happen - like the past few weeks or so - maybe it is a proglem with the camera download and not CP but as we all know it easy to blame CP. As my earlier post says I reloaded the SD card last week and all seemed to be well but it packed up again pretty quickly though.

Just had this scenario after the latest update.

To fix it, (at least so that the icons show at speeds above MPH), I went into the map options and made a change to the 'Show POIs' option - then changed it back.

I also noticed that the 'Automatic Day/Night Mode' always defaults to 'off' when updating the cameras.

Interesting, I'll give this a try when I apply the latest updates.
