My readings elsewhere lead me to suspect the the US Mio uses a speedcam database with the .spud extention.

Yes that's the one. I'm sorry but I have no idea of how that format works
.

Look for the POI folder, if there is a Speedcam folder inside this, open it.

There should be

POIUpdates.upd (leave intact and do not remove).

Speedcam.spdb (speed cam database)
SpeedcamsUpdate.spud
To make sure everything is 'clean', you can safely delete the two files above as they will be regenerated after adding the camera .txt file.

Download the iGO PGPSW safety cam database and copy the .txt file to the POI folder (or Speedcam folder if there is one). This will update the Speedcam.spdb and SpeedcamsUpdate.spud files.

Yup, got it to work after a few hours.. I needed to update .SPUD file not .MTC for US.

I got the POIEditor 2007, imported from a CSV file (only free place I know for U.S. cameras is www.tomtomforums.com \ POI \ RedLightCameras). Then you save the file a .GPX and then convert that to .SPUD using GPX to SPUD converter tool.

I think I got what I wanted, but let me ask this. Is there someplace here they keep updated U.S. database of cameras (or is it U.K. only)?

Thanks

You are right, this U.S. MIO use standard format of iGO - it is nice, because my Europe MIO C520 ignore everything there (saved here MIOMAP\MioMap\POI\speedcam) and only SpeedCams.mtc is working well (saved here MIOMAP\MioMap\miotc\pois).

I am looking for programmer of Speedcams_builder_215.exe - this program is great, but there are some problems I would like to solve. Does anybody know contact to programmer? Please let me know, if yes!

Thanks.

Hi Sallyann

First of all , thank you for the great job you have done .
I tried yesterday your speedcam_reader 201 and it was working fine .

But now it doesn't work with the new Speedcams.mtc of my MIO

It was working with the original built in file speedcams.mtc but after synchronisation on Mio site, i received another file , bigger ,still called Speedcams.mtc working well on my C520 but impossible to read with your program ???
i obtain a lot of things like ( for example )
0.00256,-4693.73184,"UNKNOWN: @0",256,1
or
-13086.22848,-36417.76635,"UNKNOWN: @0",0,1

What is you opinion about this ? Have they changed the data format in their file ? but in this case the C520 software must have been changed to ?

I would like to compare the two files to see the speedcams added but i can't Sad

Have you an idea to read the new file ?

Sorry for my bad english but there is a long time since i learnt it Smile

(if you want i can upload the file on http://dl.free.fr/ )

That is the first time I have heard of this.
Please upload the file to your server and send me a link in a PM.
It might take me a little while to check it out.

Hi !

Just a question

I would like to add some speedcams and cancel others but is it working that way . ?

I have tried first without any change of the asc to see what it was doing ..
I have got a file .asc from my original .mtc with the reader.
Then with the builder with the same asc i can create another .mtc but it is different of te first one . same size but when editing in Hex it is différent ( for example No "mitac " at the beginning 6487AE02004D69746163 )
Any mistake once more ? Embarassed

Thanks for your patience ..
Have a nice day

There are some changes from the original file, Michel.
That is correct and it makes no difference to the operation.
