Macs and GPS - yes it can work!

The Socket works very well but Route 66 runs the position 50 - 150 metres behind actaull location, possibly due to it's 1 second refresh. I'm using 10.3.1 with a G4 iMac but it should be fine with other configurations above 10.2. I have the Socket GPS on loan from the States but it is an expensive bit of kit, much more than the Emtac.

Anyone have any other combinations that work well at a more economic price?

You should check the configuration of the Route 66 GPS software. I dont have this myself, so this is just a guess, but you may find a setting which will give you WGS84 this is the position information that the GPS is transmitting so it should be the same in the software. If you can set this then your position will be much more accurate.
