New to POI's

Someone help Please....
Would anyone care to advise how to download and use the POI's with a Medion GoPal MD96240
It has a 1GB mem card with maps on & as I understand it I can use it to store & use the free space as an MP3 player, Thank God I backed up the card b4 starting to do anything, as after I stored several mp3's on the card then tried it out on the sat nav, there's nothing there at all, no maps no mp3's. I have gone through this process twice now to the same end result....
So how do I used the up dates from a POI site also the up to dated Speed camera locations, I find the manual confusing to say the least, Medion 0870 phone number just useless to be polite about that.

I find following direction for travel on this unit to be frustrating especailly on local roads, as it can & does guide on the route an extra 3 or 4 miles to the trip by not using the shortest route or even a more simple route in a more direct direction to destination. Why is it?
