I have a 5455 and a h303s so I'll try to assist.

The cd that came with the haicom has a utility on it that you need to install on your pda.

once installed, run the util on your pda with the gps connected. it will tell you if your getting a fix and if everythings working ok.

Then you need to get a good map program and a real big sd memory card.
I use destinator 3 and have a 1gig sd card in my 5455. (I can only cram 3-4 zones on it though. If you want the whowl USA on iy you'ss need a 2 gig sd card !

Destinator is good but expensive. my father in law uses pocket map navigator which is ok and a little cheaper.
