Hi there folks,
Just bought a shiney new IPAQ 5550. Was offered some free software - so i downloaded TomTom streetmaps for London. Just a couple of questions. Is it of any benefit to have this as well as the Navigator software? (which I have on order). Also I assume it is better to install the maps to the SD card and the program to the main memory. When i tried to install the street map software i ended up with 2 street map icons - both of which were Street Maps - Street Maps(1) & Street Maps(2). Is this normal? Should i install the maps first. Any help would be appreciated.

The two icons is a quirk with Windows Mobile 2003. It's how the OS manipulates icons and moves them to the start menu. Think of the start menu as an overflow area. Icons will appear on the start menu, if they can't fit they will be moved into the Programs area. The problem is, sometimes it can glitch so you have an icon on the start menu and also on the programs menu. What then happens is if that icon on the Start Menu gets replaced by another icon, you'll get two in Programs and it will assign them (1) and (2). You can delete one, but be-warned that you may eventually end up with no icons.

Installing maps to SD and program to main memory is best practice.
