Each has strengths and weaknesses. You are going to have to define what you mean by "best" _________________ Peter

If that is all you are after all of them are reasonably quick and easy to use, once you get used to them. The TT is regarded by many as being the most intuitive, and therefore the easiest to get used to.
With regards to reliability do you mean wrorking as designed on your PDA, e.g. not freezing up? If so the reliability fot eh PDA is much more relevant than the software.
If you mean reliability in the sense of the maps being right then for the UK it is much of a muchness. All maps are out of date as soon as they are produced - in the same way that a paper road map is (and don't forget no software has the ability to mark a road as "opening by xxx date" like you see on a paper map). _________________ Peter

Why would anyone choose Destinator over Copilot? |

I don't know about Destinator but in my opinion Copilot has one major downside. It will only warn you of cameras (and any other POI) if you have a route set. If you are driving with just the map screen showing it does not warn you. That alone means I would personally never use it.
My son has changed to copilot because he got it as a free bundle on his "free" new PDA/phone his phone company gave him. Even better he has got free traffic reports for a year, and his bundle also gives him free GPRS access. He finds it a lot less intuitive to use than TT, but is now getting used to it and, with the exception of the warnings thing, finds it does much the same as TT. _________________ Peter

While I agree with most of the negative things said about CoPilot, I still think it is a brilliant product. To be honest if they could just sort out a few of its problems/deficiencies TomTom would have a real problem.
I am currently getting myself familiar with a dyslexic mate's TomTom so that I can show him how to use it, therefore I have to get myself to quite a level of proficiency very quickly (with a great deal of help from this site I might add).
Ironically, doing so has actually helped me change a few things in CoPilot to mask a few of its deficiencies, but that is another matter. Yes I have seen many things in TomTom which I wish were in CoPilot, but the oposite is also true. But, if someone offerred me a swap, would I? - Not yet.
So if you are prepared to spend some time really geting to know a product - don't discount CoPilot. |
