I'm having problems connecting my 338 to a Axim X51. I've set up the partnership in settings and there is a choice of COM7 or 8, but when I try using the GPS Info software the only COM choices are COM1: Serial, Com2: IrDA, COM3: IrCOMM or COM5: BTUart. If I use COM1 and Cold Start the message on screen says $PSRF ....OK. Going to GPS Info screen shows no GPS information. None of the other COM port choices work. Anyone got any suggestions? |

It just means the GPSinfo program is useless. Get another program that can handle these ports properly. Are you running WM5 or WM2003SE? _________________ Lutz

WM5. I assume once I install TT5 I'll be able to configure it OK. Haven't done that yet as I have to contact TT for a new access code as this is a replacement PDA. |

Which program do you recommend then? I couldn't get GPS Info or Winfast navigator to see the BT-338. TomTom Navigator GPS sees it as a Bluetooth GPS. _________________ Graham.

WM5 (and more specific the Microsoft BT stack) has a very different way of attaching to devices. Before you can use the receiver you need to subscribe to its "Serial Port" service AND you need to create an Outgoing Port pointing at the receiver. Only after that will you be able to see the port in the GPS Info list, or use it in TomTom.
The old workaround "Other Cable NMEA" does no longer work in WM5, you MUST use "Other BT GPS" in TomTom. _________________ Lutz

Having struggled with the GPS Info program that comes with the BT338 I'm pleased to say that it works like a dream with TT5 (after the upgrade) and my Axim X51. Many thanks as always for lbendlin for his help and support. |
