Dear All,
A couple month ago I bought a SysOnChip CF GPS receiver happy to use it with Dell Axim X5. Unfortunately it was the beginning of my frustration. Quickly I found out that none of the port/boundrate setting worked. Simply, the receiver stayed still or in case of COM5 a led lamp falshed couple of times followed by the same info : COM Port Opening Error. I checked all possible combination i.e. Modes and rates ? none of them worked. Then I decided to check another SysOnChip GPS viewer used for PocketPC2002 and the same story. To be absolutely sure about my Dell I checked the port which worked fine with a flash memory card. As well as my GPS SysOnChip CF performed pretty well with a laptop.
Pushed up to the edge of my poor knowledge I contacted the SysOnChip support as well as its British selling branch where I bought my GPS from. Unfortunately, boys from SysOnChip did not come to me at all. The supplier insisted that my Dell should work on COM7 having NMEA 4800 set up. No luck my Friends!
Now, I suppose that my Dell system is to new and does not communicate well with the GPS. As it is mentioned in post's title my Dell works with Pocket PC2003 premium which is Windows Mobile2003, I suppose or its newer clone, hence the SysOnChip drivers may be incompatible with it.
If anyone come across that problem, please drop your comments. I gave up with my Dell and the receiver which to be honest has got excellent reviews.
Regards to all of yous,
Mike

I'm in exactly the same position with my X5.

Don't know what to do Sad

Sysonchip gives com port errors or even locks up.

Thinking i'm going to have to send it back.
