I am looking at getting a PDA for personal use with Sat Nav aswell but only have about £250 max to spend. Can anyone give me advice on what I should be looking at buying and where to buy from?

Thanks Smile

Hi darthvader,

Welcome to the forum! Thumbs Up

Firstly go for a Pocket PC rather than a palm because you get a better choice of software.

I’ve used a number of iPAQ PDAs for SatNav: 3970, 2210, and 4700. I prefer the 2210, which unfortunately is no longer made. The 2210 has Bluetooth, a CF and an SD card slot, and a removable battery. You can pick up 2210s on eBay.

If you just want to use the PDA for SatNav then have you considered a PND (Personal Navigation Device) instead? E.g. a TomTom GO model. With the announcement of the new 510, 710, and 910 GOs the older models should be cheaper.

Regards,

You could try the Navman PiN 570, AcerN35 or one of the Mio units.
They are combined PDA with SatNav GPS for about that price.

They are basic PDA's - and the PiN 570 I have works fine enough, but these PDA's don't have the best performance or all the functions of say a top end Ipaq.

Main thing to consider is what you will use the PDA for - basic stuff , MP3, contacts list, pocket PC word etc..the above will be fine, but if you want WiFi connection, better expanable performance etc then you'll need a higher spec PDA. these will probably cost more though as you need the PDA, the BTooth GPS, software and maps.
hope it gives you some ideas.
