By default, the speed cameras won't show on the map. However, when you get within a certain distance, your i3 will bong at you, and display a red alert banner, with the camera details and the speed limit associated with the camera.

Whilst you're within this range, if you so happen to be - hypothetically ;-) - driving above the speed limit the image for the particular camera will be shown on screen and the i3 will repeatedly bong at you, until your speed drops below the speed limit.

This is clouded, slightly, these days, because two forum contributors have produced freeware application that allow the alerts (visual and proximity) for speed cameras to be judicially tweaked.

But my preceding paragraphs detail the default behaviour you'll get, if you load the camera files through POIloader, in express mode, with the correct units selected.

Not really - you'll still get the same alerts, pretty much. Some have commented that when navigating, you only get alerted for cameras actually on your route - can't say it's something I've particularly made a note of.

I keep getting lots of answers off you all - but none seem to be telling me exactly what I need to know - sorry to keep asking.

Many thanks for all the help so far

Julie

Is any of the above helping?

Yes it has done thank you.

I think what I need to do tomorrow is drive home from work down a route where I know there are cameras and see what happens.

Then if it doesn't work I can try it again the following night doing it the other way - ie if navigating on first attempt - try it with just view map on second try.

But as you know from my history so far, I'll come back and report either way.

Sorry for being so painful for you all - but tyvm for all your help :-)

Julie

Yes it'll know and alert you IF you approach the camera and are over the speed limit.

No. It'll work in both modes.

Many thanks everyone for all your help.

I was alerted all the way home from work about all types of speed camers :-)

Thanks again for your patience.
