I have noticed Viamichelin have a Version 4.6 patch on their website at the following location:
http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/viamichelin/gbr/jsp/nav/MaTelechargementHomeRub5.jsp
This indicates it is for version 4 Europe edition, I am not sure if it will update the UK version of the software. It claims to cure problems during installation of quick install.

Has anyone attepted to Install this patch on the UK edition of the Version 4 software and if so was it successful?

Hi DenisW.

I'm not sure if it is for UK version too, I would imagine so.
But it didn't fix the quickinstall error for me.

I had a feeling it wouldn't rectify the problem, this is odd though because when you read the update it states quickinstall will now function.

I am currently on ver 4.4 but not the version that is on the website, I updated to the website version which did not rectify the missing postcodes and street names I flagged with them. They then asked me to return my Ver 4.3 disk and SD card and replaced it with a Ver 4.4 which did have the corrected postcode info and street names.

My guess is the software version is still 4.4 but they have sent updated maps and Postcode Database files.

N.B.
Quick Install still doesn't work and they tell me they are working on it.

It would be a far better product if it allowed the user access to the street name and postcode Database which you could then update as you find missing data or errors.

The patch didn't work for me either. So I stilll do not have a working version of QuickInstall after some 4 months now. I thought I would try the "Contact us" link to write to ViaMichelin. The template came up OK and I typed in my comments and frustrations, but when I pressed "VALIDATE", I received a message undeliverable e-mail. Next I thought I'd try to phone the Customer Relations Service - 020 736 51878. All I got was a recorded message giving me the opening hours - and I was phoning during opening hours - and referring me to www.kirrio.com, but my setup has nothing to do with Kirrio. I was then cut off.

So the software doesn't work and neither do the support routes. My frustrations continue!

I have sent numerous messages to through the michelin website and to the following e-mail address :- "akio@viamichelin.com; on behalf of; shop-uk@viamichelin.com". In all cases I have received an e-mail informing me they have received my message and will look closely at my request before replying.

The almost never reply, although recently they did send a message asking me to return my Ver 4.3 and replaced it with ver 4.4 and a 256Mb SD card rather than the original 128Mb.

I also managed to get through on the telephone but the only advice I got was to turn off my firewall and try again. When I informed him I had already tried this he admitted it was a known problem they were currently working on and he would contact me when a resolution had been found.

That was almost a month ago and I am still waiting, so don't hold your breath for an instant solution.

I've downloaded v4.6 and noticed no difference. But then QuickInstall was working for me anyway so if this was all it was trying to sort, then I was already sorted.

I may be way off the mark here, but it seems to me (for both Palm and Pocket PC) that there's a fundamental difference between a sync and a software update/upgrade.

When you sync, you're updating data files, usually specified files, or files in specified directories - POIs, for example.

But when you want to apply an update patch then you're modifying the software itself, and this should need a re-installation.
