Audible whining when using accessory socket

Today I took my Go900 for its first "proper" test drive and I have to say that my initial impression is that it is a very impressive device.

I do have one issue, there is a significant whining noise (related to engine revs) coming throught the speakers (I have the unit connected to the Aux input on the car stereo) with the power adapter plugged into the cars accessory socket. The interference ceases when the adapter is unplugged from the socket.

After some experimenting I determined that the interference is propagated through the earth connection.

The car is only 2 years old and the stereo does not suffer from this interference. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I wonder if I may have a faulty power adapter. (Has there been any issues with the device like there has been with the mount?) If not then I will have to see if I can suppress the interference somehow.

Any help would be appreciated.

If the unit makes the noise when plugged in and powered from the car with the engine running, try unplugging the PSU to the 910, if the noise goes away try the following:

It sounds like (please excuse the pun ) a ground loop problem, Maplins have a device that can eliminate this, you might need some extra cables to go from / to the device, more details can be found HERE Find your local store and check stock first though!

Thanks. I will knock up new audio lead with the ground disconnected at one end to see if that fixes it.

If that doesn't work, something which has an 'isolating transformer' (like the Maplin device) should do the trick.
