As far as speed is concerned, my Meridian Colour seems a lot faster - I haven't actually tried racing one agaisnt the other - maybe later!
Is it just me that finds it annoying that road numbers are pronounced A two hundred and sixty two, as opposed to A two six two? |

Talking of pronounciation!!! I live and Wales and find it hilarious when the pronounce the welsh street names! Love it though - all adds to the fun of it. |

I don't want to switch the road numbers off - I just don't know anyone who refers to road numbers as the B3 thousand 2 hundred and 26.
Also, I kind of hoped Tom Tom who upgrade their maps for the new models. I have a 'new' bypass that has been in place in excess of 12 months, but it is not on the map.
Nice kit but some rather annoying niggles! |

Similar situation here - a new road in a local town from about 18 months ago and it is still not shown on the maps.
Still love it though |

Does anyone know the file format of the audiobooks used on the 910? A friend of mine says he has something that may work but I want to check the file format before trying to upload it.
I know there are mp3 files but I thought there were special files that utilise the fancy voice software?
I've looked in the manual but can't find anything relevant.

The files are .aa and it is a proprietry format so if you drop audiobooks that have been ripped to mp3 format into the audiobooks directory they will not work.
However if you drop them in the music directory they will work just fine :D
The only problem being that the ripped files are much larger than the legit .aa and are also broken down a lot further, for example the da vinchi code from audible came as 2 files and about 120 meg each for the highest quality. However the same book in mp3 format from a torrent site was over 330 meg and comprised 110 files and was low quality.

Cheers Peter.
Can anyone tell me if the .aa files can be easily converted to be used on my mp3 player (Ezav Mini-Zen)? It is not listed as a known device on the audible web site.
The site does state that the file can be copied to CD and used in CD players. Will the file conversion to CD be suitable for the mini-zen?
I like the idea of listening to books/publications when on the move but I would also want to continue the listening through an mp3 player. Use only through the Tom Tom would be too limiting and would probably prevent me from subscribing to the site.
Cheers,
Carl. |

Hi Carl
If you put the following into yahoo or google converting .aa files to mp3 there are plenty of applications that will do what you want.
As the mp3 format is a standard format it should work fine.

I've had my 910 for two weeks now. I am very happy with it, but i feel so vunerable leaving it in the car.
Before the tomtom one was shoved in the glove box. Now i carry the 910 with me at all times as its just too expencive to replace.
Bluetooth function works a treat.
However i have to say it took 4 hours to find a signal one day one. 3 hours in the garden and 1 hour driving around. TomTom said it was unusual to take so long as they reported a maximum 2hr wait. But once its found a GPS signal the first time it has been fine since.
A well recomended buy! Sell ur old tomtom on ebay and buy this! |

Not seen this answered anywhere unless I missed it.
I was also wondering if I need to register the product at all.
I have logged the details on my tomtom account on their website but not actually registered the product.
Do I need to at all? |

Jean,
I'm presuming the credit card is just a fancy way of providing your serial number. If it gets nicked, you will be able to tell the Cops what serial number it is (not that it would make a lot of difference!).
More importantly (maybe) is if you need to claim under the product warranty - you will have the serial No. handy, rather than trying to read small numbers of the small label.
Also another fancy marketting hype 'title' - a unique ID card for your product.
Just keep it somewhere handy - shouldn't stop you enjoying the product but may come in handy at some stage. I've forgotten where mine is already (I'll just have to ask my wife where she tidied it away to) |

Thanks for the reply. I presume I just keep receipt and posh credit card together in a 'very very safe place' in case I need it at all ! |
