I've no experience of the Trafficmaster services, are they pretty much the same ?
The general consensus is that TM are better, but I don't think anyone has performed a side by side comparison between iTIS and TM.

Hi Dio, in terms of performance of Destinator PN I found similar locking problems to Navigon. Also, I used to like Navigon giving me the option of rerouting if it wasn't set to automatic. However, there is no such option under Destinator (that I could find). It was therefore automatic or nothing.

Now that other providers are introducing TMC services including TomTom from what I have seen on this site then I will probably be switching away from Navigon following their actions in misleading people with version 5 and whether TMC was available or not.

2. They will probably configure v6 to lock onto any RDS-TMC except Classic, as they have moved from iTIS to Trafficmaster for their traffic service - ie those stronger signals that keep getting in your way now are the very ones v6 will be using :D

Where did you get this information? AIUI there are only two TMC sources in the UK, iTIS and RAC. TrafficMaster offer traffic info for their own devices and nav solutions but not RDS/TMC.

The RAC RDS-TMC service is actually provided by Trafficmaster.

Sources? Mainly Trafficmaster's own webapge :D

Not true anymore (although I agree it used to be). They have Audi, Honda, Alpine, Siemens VDO all signed up, and in PDA terms: Garmin, Navigon and Wayfinder are also now using the Trafficmaster RDS-TMC service.

Interestinly, Siemens VDO has signed with both iTIS and Trafficmaster, and offer the user the choice of which traffic supplier to use.

You should get the Garmin GTM10 in for a review - MaFt has mentioned this in his Nuvi review, although I've yet to see it available...

Ah, that'll teach me to believe PR! The RAC obviously make no mention of TrafficMaster!!

It'd be interesting to compare the two sources, iTIS use mobile sources such as National Express fleets etc whereas TM use their fixed sensor network. It's a pity as a combo would probably result in a great service!

A SirFIII chipset GPS will always be better than a SiRFII model.
