Qstarz BT-Q818 goes to sleep

I am using a Qstarz BT-Q818 with an ipaq H2210 and TomTom5. The BT-Q818 keeps going to sleep for a few minutes at a time. The problem seems to be completeley random in nature, sometimes it runs for hours without a problem and other times it happens every few minutes and then corrects itself.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes I am using an SD card (a SanDisk Extreme III 1GB)
