Hi Guys,

I'm new on here, treat me gently :D

I've got an Orange SPV M500 loaded with TomTom5 and a Holox BT 321 GPS receiver. The GPS receiver appears to be working ok and is flashing to indicate that it's locked on ok. The PDA is picking up the bluetooth signal from the gps receiver but TT is not recognising it. I've tried to manually configure the GPS receiver to TT but the TT sotware doesn't give me a bluetooth serial port option, only infra red or serial cable.

Any ideas?

Try the following

Go to
Preferences
GPS Status
Configure

Select Other NMEA GPS baud rate 38400

Bluetooth Serial Port Com6

Works on my M1000

Thx for the reply Dave.

When I get to the last bit, selecting a COM port, I only get the option of infra red or serial cable ports and no COM 6.

Choose one of the serial cable ports (I know you have BT but don't forget this is tom tom logic at work) and try it. If that one does not work try the other. You may also need to experiment with the BAUD settings - generally better to start low and work up.

might be a silly question but have yo paired the receiver you need to select other bt gps then com6

first on the pda go to the bluetooth manager then select new device/ partnership then search for the gps and then select thegps put in a passkey of 0000 the start tomtom go to the gps menu select other bt gps then com6 baud rate 38400 give it a second and see if it works

if that doesn't work then reinstall the tomtom navigator application after removing it first

Thx for the help guys.

Yes I've paired the PDA to the GPS.

I don't get the option of COM6 on my PDA, I don't get any bluetooth options.
I should be geting these options:
GPS is connected to:
USB Cable
Serial cable on SP2
COM3
Native IR
Serial cable on COM1
Bluetooth Serial Port ....
Bluetooth Serial Port ....

But the only options I get are these:

Infrared Port
COM9
COM2
Serial Cable on COM1
COM4
COM5

Tried removing TT from the PDA, soft reset and reinstall but stil not working. When installing this time I noticed this message -

The program you have installed may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile Software.
Could this be the root of my problem?

Is your PDA running windows mobile 2005? If so you need to upgrade to latest version of TT - free downlaod from the Tom Tom site.

Hi There,

I had the same problem. Have a look at this great guide over at XDA-Devlopers.com http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=28386

(The Jasjar is identical to the M5000)

Cheers

Just before you go following the above link bear in mind what device you have (SPV M500), the link above is for a different unit (SPV M5000), so the advice there might not be too much use - Mike

Oooops, very sorry. I should not read forums early in the morning. I thought this was about the M5000
