Navman 510 On Sportsbike (R1)

Hi everyone,

I have just bought a navman 510 and am looking to mount this on my Yamaha R1.
All of the ball type fixings I see sem to be 1" in size however the ball fixing on the navman cradle is smaller.
I am going to fabricate a bracket however if any of you have an idea as to the best way of achieving this your help would be much appreciated!!

Also do any of you know the best way of waterproofing the item.

I've been making them for Garmin i3's and did my first navman one this week - it's a 16mm (5/8") ball that goes into the back of the navman compared to the i3's 17mm ball... at least that's the size I just made for someone's navman, so I hope it fits!

I know of someone who used a dremel to cut down a larger ball to the size he needed for his i3 but it wasn't too pretty. I knock mine out on a CNC lathe, the only way I could find to get a perfect ball in decent material.
If you can't find what you need at Ram mount, PM me and I'll get you some more info. on the stuff I've made.

As for waterproofing, I use a plastic freezer bag (similar to but thicker than a sandwich bag) and a hairband to keep it all in place. It doesn't look too bad and you can still use the buttons through the bag if you leave a bit of room. Works in rain and freezing fog for me!

I won't do stuff like the over-the-top cradles - bigger companies can do injection moulded stuff far cheaper than I could do it, but if you need any parts made to adapt units - brackets, ball joints, etc. then I can knock them out fairly easily. I remember someone wanting to connect a rider to a ram-mount (I think) a while back and that part would have been relatively easy... the custom bit that you can't find anywhere else is what I'm good at making, so if there's anything you need, if you have a sketch of something you want made up I can work with that.
