I checked the Navman site the other day and found that there is a software update for SmartST 2005 nd the PiN- called SP1.

So does anyone know what this will do - is it worth the hassle of updating, does it give any major advantages?

If it does not do much I'm reluctant to change something that seems to work - given the SmartST software for the PC I have never found all that robust, updating SmartST I can see could open a can or worms.

The old saying "if it aint broke- don't fix it" springs to mind.

Anyone tride the update yet /

General Improvements and Enhancements:

1) Swedish Language files –Implementation of Swedish language files provides users complete installation and full functionality of SmartST 2005 using Swedish language.

2) Device Performance – Significant modifications have been made to improve the performance of the PiN 570 device. Speed of route calculations & screen refresh rates has been greatly improved; the occasional ‘device freeze’ experienced when navigating extreme memory demanding routes has been eliminated.

3) Contact Integration – Modification has been made to the method of integrating PPC Outlook Contacts to SmartST 2005. 95% accurate integration and searching of known contacts is now possible.

4) Display of house numbers – House numbers relevant to the location of the users vehicle, are displayed within the map screen when navigating.

Thanks Tim,

not so worried about the Swedish files but the other parts could be useful.

Only got to pluck up the courage to try and update it now....

Does anyone get anywhere near this accuracy? Even with the service pack applied, the best I get is the second line of of the address correct (ie country, postcode and house number appear in black, area and road are displayed in red).

Outlook integration was working flawlessly in SmartST V3, but has become completely useless in SmartST 2005. Only the country gets right. The rest of the lines are red...

Any more news on this?

Could this be dependant on the map version? I'm using the V3 maps and not the newest V3.5 maps (SmartST 2005). Could anyone please tell me if the integration with Outlook works better with the newer maps?

Regards,

Ulf

No. My device is only a few weeks old, and the maps installed are those from ST 2005.
