Hi
Does anyone know if NavMan is going to implement the 3D view found in TomTom?
I would like to be able to see where the route takes me further down the road.

By the way I use the 3450 and are very happy with it. I think that the reception is on par with my old etrex vista. _________________ If there is a difference between the map and reality, the map is right. |

Yes. The way most companies work is like such:
When a patch is released that improves existing features, there is generally no charge. When a patch is released that add additional features, there is generally a charge. _________________ Who's Your Daddy? |

It ma not be chargeable, it depends on how soon it's released, and whether it gets released before the next major annual release of the software. If it does, it will be a free upgrade, if not then you may need to upgrade to the newer version of the software with newer maps (if they decide to implement 3D view into this).
All I know at present is it's on the list of features Navman are looking to add but I don't have any timescales. |

Thx for your fast replys Dave
I would think that the 3d view was a feature they would want to incorporate as fast as possible to be able to get market shares from other manufactorers.
When I read the reviews of Navman and TomTom I really wanted the 3D view.

Navman have been striving over the past 8 months to get a reliable GPS engine. They've had all manner of issues with different Pocket PC's. They did IMO get this after the second SP1 fix, but now we've seen newer Pocket PC's hit the market and Windows Mobile 2003 which has had to have Navman work more on the GPS engine again to resolve issues. Navman are fairly confident about their GPS engine now, otherwise they wouldn't have released the Navman 4400 software unlocked to use with any GPS Receiver which is a good sign.
However seeing that the GPS 3400/3420 came out late September, early October last year, then I would assume that Navman are probably working hard on a new release of the software, which may have all these nice extra's and tweak's in to bring it up to the level that other programs are at in terms of features. I can't say anymore at this stage, but considering we're getting close to October now, watch this space! |
