Warning about TT windscreen holders

I had the "pleasure" of staying in manchester yesterday and my motor was broken into, the police said it was because i had the TT holder on the Windscreen.

there are air vent holders available and im awff tomorrow to buy one

PS they didnt get my TT 700 it was in my hotel room

PPS i know some of you think i deserve my motor being broken into coz it was stupid to leave the holder in place, but hey im a soft southerner and we dont get crime down here Laughing Out Loud

It is something we are seeing more and more of Jaffa. We also reccommeng that those people that have the Tom Tom Suction mount or any other type of suction mount remove the mount and place them out of view in their car or vehicle(or take them out). It only takes a few seconds and saves having too pay the excess on your insurance. Another good tip is too just wipe away the ring left by the suction cup, as obviously thieves are recognising these tell tale signs.
For my final note, please make sure you have got your serial number recoreded somewhere and if possible get your kit properly marked be it with a UV pen (Most Police Stations Give These Away FREE) or some other piece of kit such as Smartwater (Very Cool) or one of other numerous ways that are available commercially.

I have an external antennae attached to my windscreen mount (athermic windshield) - so thanks to the incredibly stupid design with the antennae cable hardwired into the bracket, I can't easily remove my mount.

Does anyone know if TT have offered replacement parts to help overcome this problem?.

Can't you unscrew it at the in-line connector?
Not perfect, I know, but better than having to remove the aerial completely.

I'm impressed with smart water i think i'll be investing in a bottle of that ;)

im still looking for the "air vent" holder for the TT,any ideas where i buy one? at least it wont be staring the theivng gits straight in the face unlike the windscreen holder

You can get a kit with various mounts including air vent from ebay for £20

Hiya Guys, HNY, and this is my second post,

right then,

i have purchased a TTONE and i have been using the TT300 for the past few months at work in the van with the boss.

i noticed that the TT main problem is size, i mean you cant put the nav unit in your pocket so most opt to leave it in the car. also the mount does stick out like an incredible sore thumb,

as some know the thefts are are or the REAL up, so what i did with my bracket was actually unscrew the clip from the mount and i removed the vent outta my peugeot 106 with a small terminal screwdriver and the dropped a little bolt through the hole, in the back of the vent so i have a very small tidy design, ive also noticed as its black on a black vent and dash its very hidden not to mention the reflection i get from the wing mirror, so its very unlikely to be noticed, ill take some pics tomora when its sunny, Laughing Out Loud

and show you my idea, but i really would recomend this idea, and id also like to add get a TTONE it has fantastic Sat finding abiltys, its finds then fast and it appears to pick up the signal in any position without even being on show i left it the my ashtray bit the other day when i hadnt mounted it and i noticed it had 5 sats still.

I have a Brodit mount - instead of screwing the holder to the mount I've used some extra strong velcro - when in dodgy areas only the small mount remains.

if u search ebay for seller lindens - he has a asucker plate /adhesive that you can mount on dash to take sucker - only £1.99
