Non Postcode more accurate?

Hi guys,

Here's a question for you.

Is my non postcode quest more accurate than say the postcoded Quest 2?

If I need to get to a specific address I just punch it in and it takes me to the door. But with the Q2 and other postcoded gps units, that could pose a problem. My 7 digit postcode covers about 20 houses in my street as does yours (probably).

Speaking to a bloke in work last night about this and he reckons that out in the countryside a single postcode can cover a few square miles, ie, different farms, cottages etc. I can see that being a problem if you're a taxi driver, courier etc.

Does my question/arguement hold water or can any of you experienced guys explain what i'm missing?

IF the house number (or even the street) is in the database then your "non-postcode" solution is more accurate. But more often than not either the house number or the entire street is missing from the map. In that case the PostCode at least brings you into the proximity, and you can then ask the locals.

So it's a question of map accuracy. The PostCodes are much easier to maintain than the street data.
