I still think 10 a year max is the most that should be charged.

What level of technical support is to be offered to paying customers?
How accurate will the database be? 80%, 90%?
How quickly will new submitted cameras be verified and added to the database?

Still many question from the other thread to be answered, not to mention the badwill generated.

With the release of apps such as POICapture we have already seen a rise in submissions, the implementation of an on-line submission system is very nearly ready and this too will simpligy the reporting process.

We have many other irons in the fire too!

Darren, this makes all the 59 pages of previous posts inconsequential, as well as the Basingstoke "poll".
This was a done and dusted deed, probably from the first camera submission.

The members area will be a sub-site, such details have yet to be decided but there will only be ads from retailers who are making discounts available to members.

Regular users will already know how good our database is, we began this site to offer support to users and we are well able to offer assistance.

Our coverage exceeds 95% of the static camera sites and a much better proportion of mobile and temporary sites than any others.

We have responded to the complaints of those who have previously contributed, to those that use our database but have not then I would ask why not? if they did not think it was good enough then fair enough, there is no obligation to use it. To those that use it, benefit from it and have not contributed then we feel the charges are fair.

Exactly, i make my views crystal clear. Can the same be said in the case of PGPSW, i don't recall seeing many views from yourselves about this.
Anouncements, yes.

Darren,

thank you for the replies. Are you able to answers points 1 and 3 at this time? I am particularly interested in support. Should there be a problem would the PGPSW team provide support on an individual basis or would the member be expected to seek advice through the forums as it is now?

Initially a subscriber would be directed to the forum guides, if these did not resolve the problem then we will offer individual support via email.

Darren,

I only posted once or twice in the other debate but the question I put was largely ignored. I will probably subscribe but as I said before if 5000 people subscribed it would be in the region of 100,000 pounds coming in. I assume you have the numbers of people using the database. If the numbers I quoted are correct could this be considered to be fair pricing? I've not posted this to stir another debate, I am genuinely concerned at the numbers being quoted.

Dave

No organisation sets a price for a product based upon a figure they wish to achieve! They set price based upon what they consider fair for the product itself and that is what we have done.

It would be quite unrealistic to expect otherwise but that is not to say that should the popularity of the database exceed expectations we would not consider a price reduction although talk of such is a little early!

We plan to plough money back into the site and that is what we'll do. I don't wish to be drawn into numbers of subscribers or potential profits etc for commercial reasons but whilst headline figures such as 100,000 will understandably sound incredible, let us not forget the taxes and other business costs that result. It remains to be seen if even a fraction of that sum is realistically achievable.

Glad this issue is starting to resolve, and hope it didn't spoil anyone's Xmas.

Couple of quickie points:

- is there any dispensation for those of us who have contributed real money via your Paypal arrangement? At best, a year of free subscription to the Members' Area, at worst a signed photo of Bo Peep?

- how about an avatar of a cup of tea with a storm in it?

Seriously though, thanks for all your active and passive support during my first 18 months of satnav - mods, staff and contributors alike. It would have been a more difficult ride without you - all of you. I hope to be sticking around for a while. Thumbs Up

A good question on a point I had discussed at the very beginning but had since overlooked Embarassed

It seems only fair to extend a years free subscription to all those who have contributed financially via PayPal assuming they aren't eligible for the free lifetime sub.
