Getting a PSP mains adapter for the TT One seems like best value solution for charging at home, but is the plug at the end of the PSP charger same size as the one for the TomTom?

Asking because was in Maplin yesterday browsing chargers and even looking at all the different size tips I didn't find one which seemed a good fit in the TomTom, short of ripping open packets! The one with a hollow central pin wide enough for the TomTom were too wide to fit the aperture for adapter tip.

Am a little wary of using a universal switch supply anyway just in case it gets knwocked from 4.5V position and fries the One. Also considered mains cigar lighter socket adapter but then sod's law is I'd forget to take the car charger lead with me when I needed it back in car!

In short does PSP adapter tip (car or mains) fit?

Thanks

Too low a voltage shouldent hurt the One its anything above say the 6ish mark that will start the cooking procedure.

Car Power Supplys are between 11-14v depending on the alternator and what you have running Although the one has a Voltage Regulator in the charger iirr there is a error of +- up to a set level depending on the input voltage someone will hepefully confirm this :p

anyway a good mate of mine charges his 500 up on a universal adator at 6v and last time i looked it seemed to be fine if not his driving Laughing

You can always find an adaptor with the correct pin and cut the end of an adaptor that does fit as long as you get the wires the right way round theres normally only two.

I have been using a PSP Power Supply for a while with the One, and it works like a dream,

There are some very good deals on secondary market PSP supplies so it makes a cost effective solution

If the psp mains charger works well with tomtom, is the car charger good for tomtom too? Maplins do one with a stretchy old fashion telephone cord type. This should keep things a lot neater in the car as my current cable has a mind all if its own and gets on my nerves.

Yes the PSP Car charger is fine, I use one with mine as its longer than the supplied TomTom Lead.

Thanks for the tip of using PSP accessories with the tom tom

I've just been to Game and picked up a PSP dual USB and charger cable for £6.99

http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11234&mid=326193

and it's working great for both charging and data transfer purposes!

That's handy - Any idea how long it would take to charge the TT ?
Could plug it in all day at work then.

It's taken just over 2 hours for the battery to go from completely empty to nearly full - but it seems to be slowing down now.

Might have to get one - Saves messing about plugging the Cigarette lighter in for short journeys all the time.
