I've searched the forums and tried suggestions, to no avail:

I've just de-installed a working TTN3 from my iPaq hx4700, which used an Emtac/socket b/t GPS, and installed my TTN5 upgrade and patched to v5.1.

Despite all attempts, I cannot get the small black & yellow disc spinning to confirm GPS connection, within GPS status. I've tried all this below:
-complete uninstall of TTN3, GPS drivers etc, & reset
-clean install of TTN5 & asociated apps (b/t, voices etc)
-deleted "old" gps pairing in b/t manager & create new pairing
-disabled "accept all incoming beams" in iPaq's connection options
-selected "other b/t GPS" in configuration, and tried EVERY available connection option show
-selected "other wired GPS", tried EVERY baud rate and EVERY available connection option shown
-tried firstly making a serial connection to the GPS in b/t manager, THEN starting TTN5

NONE of this works.
I DO have satellite fix on the GPS - tested it with my wifes iPaq 3970 running TTN3.
both devices are almost fully charged.
iPaq has plenty of available memory left.

I'm stumped!
Help!!

What is the output of the GPS unit set to it needs to be NMEA compliant to work with TT5, if its running a different protocol TT5 won't read the data, TT3 can read other types of data stream - so this might be a pointer - Lutz? any thoughts - Mike

Mike, it's whatever it comes with out of the box - didn't know it was "switchable" - been using it for c. 3 years, first with 3870, then 3970, then 4700.

mikealder is right - first thing to check is that the receiver is set to NMEA. TTN3 could handle both NMEA and SiRF but TTN5 can only use NMEA.

Next - forget all this stuff about pairing - it is NOT NEEDED. What you really need is two things

- have the iPaq subscribe to the serial port service of the receiver (in BT manager)
- enable the outgoing serial port (in BT Settings)

That's it - after you have done that the port will appear in the TTN5 port list. Use "Other BT" or "Other cable" at 38400.

Awesome. This has fixed the problem. You guys rock! A suggestion should be made to Tomtom to incorporate a simple way of doing this in their software

How do I change or check whether my GPS Reciever is using SiRF or NMEA so that I can change it to NMEA if necessary?

Where do I find the TT3 GPS Driver?

Crying or Very sad
