I've owned a number of Garmins over the last 10 years (my first was a basic GPS38) all used on a motorcycle.

The Quest, as you would expect, if by far the finest piece of kit to sit on the bars.

However, a shortcoming, the screen is covered in fine scratches. Catch it in the correct light and it's a bloody mess. Never had any scratch worries on any previous unit.

Am I the only one, or is the Quest screen soft?

(I assume they have come about from wiping rain off with my gloved finger.)

Regards BJ Nottingham.

Same problem here. All the bluish anti-reflective coating seems to be wearing off the screen. Crying or Very sad

It doesn't look bad or make the unit unreadable, you only really notice it in a certain light. Confused

Try something like this

http://www.boxwave.com/products/cleartouch/cleartouch-gps-screen-protector.htm

I've used stuff like this on a palm organiser and it worked well (though not tested on a bike in the rain). For more, just do a search for "gps screen protector" under google.

I put a post up in August about the same problem..........the screen was covered in ultra fine scratches (like the anti coating was coming off Skippy!) even though I'd thought I'd looked after it sooooooo carefully. Turned out that the screen was covered in a very fine "film" of translucent scum (I've know idea how!) A heavy rub with a spectacles cleaning cloth and CD cleaner fluid took it off and its back to new! :D

Takes a bit of a sharp intake of breath and go-for-it but it worked...........proves to me that the screen is actually pretty tough!

That is a top-tip 'dandywarhol' worked a treat, though I used white spirit.

Use Novus #2 fine scratch remover. Works great.
