Will an upgrade work on clean system?

I currently have a Ipaq 4150 with TomTom2 on it wired up to a Garmin eTrex. I also use POIntcheck software with it with no major problems. In fact overall everything has worked fine 95% of the time for 18 months. However the occassional bug surfaces requiring a soft reset.

I have just purchased the TTN5 'upgrade'. I have not installed it yet. Now in an ideal world I would like to do a hard reset on my PDA and install only TTN5 and POIntcheck 5.02. However I may be opening a can of worms. So here are my two questions;

1) Does TTN5 need to install 'over' an old TTN version or can I do a hard reset on my PDA and try to install the TTN5 upgrade hoping it will only require the activation code from TTN2 at some point?

2) Are there any common problems with getting POIntcheck to work with TTN5?

I have a Mio 168 on which I did a hard reset becase of a problem. I setup TTN5 onto a 'clean' system no probs (I had also deleted all the files on the SD card as you need space for the maps). The upgrade is also a full program (atleast on my cds). Do the upgrade to 5.1 from the Tomtom site.

I could not get checkpoint to work on mine but have not tried since upgrading to 5.1. Others have no probs. I'm not sure if the problems people have are with 5.0 & fixed by 5.1 or if they are ppc specific.
