Unable To find Internal Serial#

My Platinum GPS has had its firmware upgraded to 5.40. I can't see the Internal Serial #. I go to Menu>about> and it is nowhere on the screen.

I can't interact with my Direct Route USA & Canada without it nor can I register the product.

Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

there is a serial number inside the battery compartment. take the battries out and look. It may well be near the card slot or behind it.
