I have a friend with a Mitsubishi Shogun with in-built sat-nav. Everything is badged as Mitsubishi. I suspect that the whole unit is OEM'd from someone like Pioneer, Toshiba etc. Does anyone know how she can upgrade the software or get it serviced?

Is it the CD or DVD nav system?

I have just taken delivery of a 2005 shogun with the factory DVD nav system. The DVD supplied with the car is a Navteq / Mitsubishi badged product and is the Spring Summer 2004 version. This is also known as version 2, although this is not documented anywhere on the DVD or packaging.

My dealer says this is the latest version currently available and he advised me that Mitsubishi release updates every 18 months or so but he didn't know when the last release was or when the next one is due. I emailed Mitsubishi directly and received a similarly negative response.

I know there are more up to date DVD's because a friend has a BMW with DVD nav and his maps are more up to date than mine. Tried his DVD in my unit but no joy!

I looked on the Navteq website and you can purchase up to date DVD's for various factory systems but the Mitsubishi isn't listed. A bit steep though at about 250 euros. I should think Mitsubishi will rip you off for an up to date DVD as well!

Sorry JackS. Posted in haste. Didn't realise you were in the USA. Not sure of the USA situation with Mitsubishi Sat nav.
