Can't use the keyboard anymore

I've had MBNE4 with an IPAQ 2210 for some time, and liked entering addresses etc using the keyboard.
All of a sudden MBNE will only allow me the 'phone pad' style (ABC, DEF etc on big keys) or the Transcriber (with 3 sections, ABC, abc and numbers). The IPAQ is set to Keyboard as default, and all other programs use the keyboard happily, but as soon as I switch to, or start MBNE the option to use the keyboard vanishes.

Any suggestions?
