Odd 2210 behaviour

I have a Seidio G2500 Mount for my 2210.
It has worked really well for a few months, even surviving a really hot week in Spain in May.
In the last month or so the 2210 has been turning itself off (black screen, and power and bluetooth lights off) after about an hour in the G2500. If I turn the 2210 on again it goes off after a few minutes, even if I reset it.
I thought it must be the 2210 playing up, as a lack of power from the G2500 would just leave the 2210 running on it's battery.
However, I have just reverted back to the old spade connection and side grips, and the 2210 has behaved faultlessly for 12 solid hours.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Have I missed something somewhere and it is my fault?
