Does anyone know if the Tom Tom 2 Navigator receiver still has internal power ( grey Diagonal box type 1 month old) as the signal from my receiver is lost if the car power is disconneted. I am under the impression that I should get a few hours of GPS use away from a 12v supply.

Does this also affect the cold warm and hot TTFF times and if does, does it help to keep the receiver powered up as much as possible for quicker times.

If you're talking about the cabled GPS, then no, it has to be powered in-car by the cigarette socket.

Cold TTFF's occur when you do not have enough exact information of where the satellites are in the sky (eg Ephemeris data) which will occur if your receiver is off for around 2+ hours, if your GPS is powered off for a lot longer (weeks to months), then you will lose your Almanac (Alamanac data is current for up to 3-4 months). Losing all Ephemeris data will mean a Cold TTFF which will give 30 seconds upwards, but typically around 50-60 seconds on most receivers (providing you are not driving). Losing Almanac is essentially taking you back to a what is a true factory TTFF (eg never been used), which will take 12.5+ mins to acquire satellites. Warm and Hot typically are when the GPS is powered off for less than 2 hours, or even less than an hour.
