Hi

Can anyone help me please? I have just purchased a Globalsat BT338 and cannot get it to work with TT5 it works perfectly with TT3 (I uninstalled TT5 and tried it) I can get the unit itself to work no problem but having trying all the info I read it still fails to find a GPS device in TT5. I would be grateful if anyone could shed any light on this. Thanks

PeteJohn

Hi PeteJohn,

Have you paired the BT-338 with your PDA?

In TTNav5, you need to configure GPS with:

Other Cable NMEA GPS
GPS baud rate of 38400
Bluetooth Serial Port COM8: (on an iPAQ 2210)

Regards,

A known issue with the BT-338 (and not made any easier to rectify using TTN5.0) is an issue witht the SIRFiii chipset. On rapid altitude changes, it takes hours next time to get a fix once it is turned on again.

The solution is to remove the battery on the BT-338 for about 5 mins, this then loses the pairing on the GPS and resets the SIRFiii variables. Re-create this with the IPAQ and it seems to work.....

Hi

Thanks for help. I meant to have mentioned I have an Ipaq rx3715 but as it happens I stumbled on a solution quite by accident!. I reinstalled TT5 then I installed the GPS module from TT3 (more choices than TT5) and configured that to NMEA on Com 6 and then, as you suggested also, configured TT5 to that and up came the signal. Wonderful, the wonders of modern technology!!. Many thanks for help, hope above is of some use with a similar problem.

PeteJohn
ref your post of 27th July, using TTN3 GPS module with TTN5 might be the answer to my problem which is similar to yours. Can you tell me how you load the TTN 3 GPS module?
Thanx
Gaston

Gaston, go to the link at the end of this and download the driver for TT3 GPS (I usually use the vs2,06) install it and select the GPS to NMEA mode, if it is selected to SiRF mode it won't work with TT5, just click the GPS icon that is installed in programs and use this to configure the GPS unit http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=13
