Julian sent us in photos of his mount which comprises of using the suction mount supplied with TomTom Navigator but using self tapping screws to mount the suction cup to the centre console.

Interesting to see Julian's comment on the vent mount. He says it's not a good place because of the hot air hitting the PocketPC. Well, oddly enough that's exactly why I prefer the vent mount for my setup - over here in the hot south it's about the only place the PocketPC can survive the heat that builds up. More often than not the device refused to start when I had left the car in bright sunshine for a while (for the folks in the UK: this is when the yellow disk that you occasionally see actually manages to deliver some energy through the rain clouds ;-). A few second of ice cold air from the air condition and we're in business again.

The TomTom GPS receiver should be less susceptible to the heat given it's silver body. I'll be interested to see my dark blue Sapphire sitting on the dashboard over longer period of time...

That yellow disc ? I thought that was when one of the NavStar US satellites started burning up when it was falling back to earth after neglect ? I think we're down to 24 now!
