Can anyone confirm that the signals that are currently broadcast by PRN 124 and PRN 126 have any measurable effect in the real world? Does anybody actually detect an improvement with the average SiRFstarIIe/LP receiver?

I'm currently awaiting my first GPS equipment shipment and I'm quite curious whether the EGNOS test already affects the measurements.

Additional info:

I read a post from a SiRF technican who states that the atmospheric errors correctable by WAAS/EGNOS contribute about 1-2 meters of uncertainty to the total observed error and that this would make a difference on static receivers with long-term averaged measurements in a "clean" environment only. In this case the "pure" GPS data should be good to 2-3m and WAAS/EGNOS might drop this to 1-2m.

A moving receiver with constantly changing conditions is facing a whole bunch of additional errors that EGNOS cannot account for. In this situation the uncertainty is normally ~10m and DGPS can drop this by the same 1-2m to 8-9m uncertainty which would make no difference at all.

Maybe that's why they decided to drop DGPS support on the SiRFstarIII and tried to concentrate on local noise and reflections.

Does anyone have first hand experience of this?
