I don't think you share a full postcode with different streets. That would make the use of postcodes pointless!! Maybe one street name has a postcode and then you just look for the house number (which the postcode addon doesn't seen to let you input).

A postcode is NOT split over 2 or more streets. One street MAY have more than one postcode.
ANY software using postcodes should find the property you are looking for on entering full postcode + house no. Where the properties are named and do not have a number assigned to them should be listed for selection.

If you require the correct address &/or posctcode this may be searched on www.Royalmail.com. You have to register (free) & it allows upto 12 searches per day.

Is it me or does the postcode just get you to the road?

I frequently use the postcodes to visit places, and often they don't have house numbers (i.e. offices) , but the postcode is perfect. How would I choose the housenumber if I don't have one? The postcode should be good enough.

Instead of using your pocketpc's memory, leave the ZIP folder on your SD card.
But add a folder TOMTOM to the SD card.
Why this would help? The app searches for a TomTom folder, and then searches for all other folders (VOICE, SCHEME, ZIP,...) alongside of this folder. That's why it works with the postalcodes file stored on the PocketPC; you have a TomTom folder with the activation code and settings on your device, in the root and/or in MyDocuments.

What exactly do you mean. I got it to work by putting hte zip folder and the 2 fiels insiee it at the root level of the pocket pc. but do you copy the zip folder to inside the newly created tom tom folder

e.g.
\CF card\TomTom\Zip\postcode files

or

\CF Card\Tomtom\postcode files.

I am really confused about what exactly you are supposed to do as when I try this I can't get the 7 digits working. Can we have an idiots guide to sorting the postcodes out please?? !! (for me:)

Cheers

Chris

Isuhe,

Do the following on your Memory card (SD or CF):

/Memory card/zip/Great_Britain.postal
/Memory card/TomTom/

The TomTom folder is empty.
As Tuurg explained earlier, When launched, the Navigator application looks for a "TomTom" folder and then for any other related folders.

I had the same problem with 7 digit post codes not working. Adding a tomtom folder to SD card sorted it out! Thank you!

No - Postcodes work as long as you have at least the basic version of the map, and the postcode files i nthe Zip folder. As wel las the map file i nthe root of the card, the Zip folder i nthe root of the card, yo ualso need a TomTom folder in the root of the card. As long as you have them it should work - it did for me when I got it set up like that.
