If you go back to the begining of this topic, you will find all the info and alterations to files that you need.
Some kind soul has even included the complete file, so all you have to do is copy and paste it.

Big vote of thanks to previous forum posters and contributors to the camera database. I think I've got my Acer n35 (the PPC) and Destinator3 running as close to the way I want it as I can, IMHO this is what is worth changing:

1) Fix the 'three miles' bug typo in in destinatorvoicemaneuvers.inf
2) 'Continue Driving Around the Roundabout' (circle.wav in Common\Interface\Voice\All) is just annoying, edit to 'Roundabout' by cutting out the preamble with Wavepad.
3) Add camera database as described earlier in this topic, Destinator3 does need the .dat and .bmp files to be 'Auto Alert 1.dat' etc, but what appears on screen can be changed as below.
4) Use Wavepad to make extra voice wav files for 4, 6, 8, 10 and hundred by editing existing files. Make some 'camera.wav' warnings from tomtom ogg format such as the ones at http://www.tomtomsatnav.info. Edit the ::MW entries in the destinatorvoicemaneuvers.inf file to use them(in ...\Common\Interface\Voice\All). In my file lines are like this:

::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_400,0,0,camera;4;hundred;UNITS,"Camera 400"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_200,0,0,camera;2;hundred;UNITS,"Camera 200"

5) Change the label 'Auto Alert 1'. Edit the IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED lines in
DestinatorMSG.Inf in Common\Interface\Visual\All so the 'favorites' list and label on screen say something more useful:

IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED="Camera;Redlight"
IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED_DISTANCES="0;50;100;200;400;600;800;1000"

6) Turn the 'Camera' and 'Redlight' alerts on
5) Backup your changes on the PPC using the backup/restore program. If you backup to the 'SD/MMC card' and 'backup all' you can restore after your batteries die. Otherwise you have to rely on the copies of the modified files on your PC and copy them again.

What I used:
Acer n35
Destinator 3.0.75_103 - pre-loaded on SD
Destinator Console 3.1 - destinator disk 1
MS ActiveSync 3.7.1 (build 4034) - Acer n35 disk
Wavepad v2.10 - free basic edition http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/
Winzip 9.0 SR1 - www.winzip.com
WinXP SP2 on the PC.

For those thinking of buying an Acer n35 and Destinator 3, I bought the package after seeing a review and yes, it's not the latest and greatest software, it's not the fastest, most sensitive or most elegant hardware.
However, you get a complete PocketPC (anyone tried CEBoard?), built in GPS antenna, windscreen mount and all the leads for PC and car. It does the job as advertised and there's nothing as comprehensive even close to the price. It's relatively easy to import speed camera warnings and other favourites to the software for anyone with some Windows PC experience.

Does anyone know if the script detailed in this thread, i.e. the contents of
destinatorvoicemaneuvers.inf is also applicable to Destinator PN v 5 ?

I can get it to show graphic images of the cameras and the "normal" voice prompts work but the wav files warning of the red light cam and gatso dont seem to work.

Any pointers greatfully recieved.

I can only say what works on my v3.0.75 I have but I hit a few dead ends. Best to change and test only one thing at a time if you can. A few things to check:

The favorite import has completed and put 'Auto Alert 1.dat' in the Common\Favorites folder and they appear on the map with the default icon.

The MW lines in destinatorvoicemaneuvers.inf file (in ...\Common\Interface\Voice\All) look like this -
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_400,0,0,camera;4;hundred;UNITS,"Camera 400"
All the voice phrases wav files have to exist (check spelling and punctuation). Match the upper/lower case too - not entirely sure it matters but it's good practice. When the distance to an Auto Alert 1 object (camera) is 400 yards, the voice prompt should be 'Speed Camera''four''hundred''yards' (camera.wav,4.wav,hundred.wav,yards.wav). Try a simpler phrase like the default 141.wav if you're not sure.

The alert is set. Your favorites menu entries hafe to be set to distances you actually have MW records for (for First Alert and Second Alert).

Leave the DestinatorMSG.Inf in Common\Interface\Visual\All as the original IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED="Auto Alert 1;Auto Alert 2" until you have the voice alerts working.

Unfortunately i have now tried all the setup suggestions here with DestinatorPN (v5) and still no joy with the audible alerts for the camera database.

Normal routing alerts and even visual alerts of the camera database work fine.

Does anyone have a full detailed setup inc wav files i could try ?

I am going around in circles with this currently.

Thanks

I finally got it to say "Favorites alert" last night.
Below is a snip from my inf file in the common\interface\voice\all
directory. Can anyone advise why its not using the wav files ?
They definately all exist in the directory.

::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_1000,0,0,gatso;1000;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_800,0,0,gatso;800;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_600,0,0,gatso;600;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_500,0,0,gatso;500;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_400,0,0,gatso;400;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_200,0,0,gatso;200;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_100,0,0,gatso;100;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_50,0,0,gatso;50;yards,"Poi Alert 1"

::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_1000,0,0,camred;1000;yards,"Poi Alert 2"
::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_800,0,0,camred;800;yards,"Poi Alert 2"
::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_600,0,0,camred;600;yards,"Poi Alert 2"
::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_500,0,0,camred;500;yards,"Poi Alert 2"
::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_400,0,0,camred;400;yards,"Poi Alert 2"
::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_200,0,0,camred;200;yards,"Poi Alert 2"
::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_100,0,0,camred;100;yards,"Poi Alert 2"
::MW,POI_ALERT_2*DISTANCE_TYPE_50,0,0,camred;50;yards,"Poi Alert 2"

do you have the wav files for the gatso and camred as well as the distances which should be in the common\interface\voice\all file.

All the files should also have warn; inserted where the bold type is
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_1000,0,0,warn;gatso;1000;yards,"Poi Alert 1"

insert this in all your gatso and camred instuctions and all should be in the DestinatorVoiceManeuveres.inf file also in the above common\interface\voice\all file.

Yes, all the wav files are in place in both the ALL directory and the englishUK directory which is my current default.

I will add the WARN into the inf file and give it a go on the way home tonight.

thanks for the response.

OK i tried this with no luck.
Is WARN a command or wav file ?

If a wav then obviously i will need to create it. i will try that anyway.

thanks.

My inf file is like this

::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_1000,0,0,warn;gatso;1000;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_800,0,0,warn;gatso;800;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_600,0,0,warn;gatso;600;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_500,0,0,warn;gatso;500;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_400,0,0,warn;gatso;400;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_200,0,0,warn;gatso;200;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_100,0,0,warn;gatso;100;yards,"Poi Alert 1"
::MW,POI_ALERT_1*DISTANCE_TYPE_50,0,0,warn;gatso;50;yards,"Poi Alert 1"

and the warn is a command as far as I know. The above can be repeated for Poi Alert 2 only replacing gatso with camred.

Perhaps a PM to MikeyF may help if he does not manage to come in and have a look
