Can anyone help me - I have TomTom2 & IPAQ 3970 - each time I put it in the car, I can't get a GPS connection for 10-15 minutes or so - which makes route navigation difficult to say the least. Once I've got a connection, all ok. I've tried turning off the infrared beam as suggested on TomToms Q&A, but it doesn't make any difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

What GPS Receiver are you using, a Navman by any chance? And when you put it in the car, do you see any signals being received on the GPS Info applet during this ten minutes?

Hi,

It's a TomTom GPS and, yes, I do see the Staellite activity - when i do manage a fix (10-15 mins)I seem to be gattin fixes on at least 4 of the bars.

Does this make sense?

Which car are you driving ? It sounds like you have a car with a heat reflective windscreen. If you move the GPS Receiver outside of the car temporarily by either holding it in your hand or placing it on top of the car, do you receive a fix within about a minute ? If so, you will need to purchase a Re-Radiating antenna.

Dave, Many hanks - Vauxhall Zaphira, by the way - I'll try it - but I'm curious why I get a good signal after it's "locked on" - I would have thought I would have the problem all the time if my windscreen was blocking the signal?
