Forgive me if I'm being dense, but a quick search failed to turn up any mention of TPEG on any forum here (as seen at http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/xml/ ). Are there no programs to use this data with TTN?

Don't forget - this is XML data which is very uneconomical on bandwidth (compared to compressed TMC or even plain text) . So there may actually be little interest to implement this as long as other, cheaper alternatives are available.

My fault, didn't check the page I'd linked to closely before sending! There's also a binary stream available (halfway down this page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/about/tpeg/ ), though on closer inspection it seems to be incomplete ( 'This is a section of a TPEG binary stream containing a single 'turn' of the current TPEG 'carousel' with the appropriate framing structure, messages and components.'' ). That'll teach me to post late at night!

If a complete binary stream is posted (or if that stream has enough information), it looks like TPEG might be one to watch..[/i]

Looking at the binary feed, it seems pretty efficient, but you can still compress it by 50% using zip or gzip.

Why don't they just supply the files in zip gz format and be done with it?
